Horizon Community Funds of Northern Kentucky has announced that Tara Johnson-Noem, Executive Director of the Northern Kentucky Area Development District (NKADD), will be recognized with the Nonprofit Executive of the Year award. The award will be presented on Oct. 1 during the Northern Kentucky Philanthropy Symposium in Erlanger.
The Nonprofit Executive of the Year award celebrates nonprofit leaders' outstanding leadership and dedication to serving Boone, Campbell, and Kenton counties. Johnson-Noem has been instrumental in addressing the region's critical housing needs, leading NKADD's efforts to bring attention and action to the issue.
This year's NKY Philanthropy Symposium will focus on income-aligned housing, a topic central to NKADD's mission over the past year. In September 2023, NKADD released its Northern Kentucky Housing Data Analysis. This comprehensive 300-page report details the housing challenges faced by the region. The report, which includes detailed data and maps, provides a clear snapshot of the housing shortage and outlines actionable steps to alleviate the growing crisis.
Tara has served as Executive Director of NKADD since 2022. She began her professional career in marketing and communications, working for a Fortune 500 corporation in communications and federal government relations and later for a boutique marketing and event staging agency. She started her post-graduate school career at NKADD, left to pursue various roles in government relations and community development in several institutions in the Greater Cincinnati region, and then returned to NKADD to serve as NKADD Associate Director for Workforce Development and Director of the Northern Kentucky Workforce Investment Board from 2020-2022.
