The Kentuckiana Regional Planning and Development Agency (KIPDA) helped secure more than $1.5 million in public and local investment for a new healthcare facility in Trimble County. The project will expand access to primary and urgent care in Bedford through a partnership between Trimble County Fiscal Court and Carroll County Memorial Hospital.
The Trimble County Fiscal Court received an $850,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for the project. The federal CDBG program is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and administered in Kentucky by the Department for Local Government, which awarded the county the grant. The healthcare facility will be located in Bedford and will include an urgent care clinic and a primary care office.
“This announcement shows what can happen when local leaders and regional partners work together,” KIPDA Executive Director Jarrett Haley said. “Our role is to help communities navigate complex funding programs and turn their priorities into projects on the ground, and we are proud to support Trimble County in expanding access to healthcare.”
The total project will represent a minimum investment of $1,511,684, combining CDBG funds with contributions from Carroll County Memorial Hospital and Trimble County. The facility is intended to provide more convenient access to routine and walk-in medical services for county residents, reducing travel times and supporting local health needs.
KIPDA worked closely with Trimble County Judge/Executive John Ogburn Jr. and county officials to prepare the CDBG application to the Department for Local Government and the Government Resources Accelerating Needed Transformation (GRANT) Program application to the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development. The GRANT award will provide 98% of the local match required for the CDBG funding, easing the financial burden on the county.
KIPDA will administer the project and ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations and guidance.
