The Kentucky Council of Area Development Districts (KCADD) hosted its annual legislative event Feb. 12 at the Capitol Annex in Frankfort.
Held in conjunction with the council’s quarterly board meeting, the event brought together Area Development District (ADD) representatives, along with county and city officials and members of the General Assembly, to discuss legislative priorities and strengthen coordination on issues affecting communities across the commonwealth.
During the board meeting, the council welcomed House Majority Floor Leader Steven Rudy and Sen. Scott Madon, who previously served on the KCADD board while mayor of Pineville. Both lawmakers provided updates on the legislative session and emphasized the importance of Kentucky’s 15 ADDs.
“Thank you for advocating," Rudy said. "We appreciate all that you do as area development districts, we know the importance of your role. We want to be a partner with you.”
In addition to the guest speakers, Webster County Judge/Executive Steve Henry, KCADD legislative chair, and Jason Vincent, executive director of the Pennyrile Area Development District and chair of the Kentucky Association of District Directors’ Legislative Committee, provided a legislative report.
