Putting Young Kentuckians to Work initiative funded by the General Assembly helps 144 young adults overcome barriers and gain job training

The West Kentucky Workforce Board (WKWB) has enrolled 144 participants in services made possible through Putting Young Kentuckians to Work funding provided by the Kentucky General Assembly through House Bill 1 of 2024.

Surpassing its goal of enrolling 116 participants, the board has served eligible-to-work 18- to 24-year-olds with an emphasis on short-term training and employment through on-the-job training, which assists employers with the cost of training inexperienced young adults. The program’s funding has helped address and remove obstacles preventing workforce participation, and its impact continues to be felt by individuals, families, employers and communities.

WKWB will continue to help as many young adults as possible the final six months of the two-year funding cycle and hopes legislators will be able to continue to fund Putting Young Kentuckians to Work so assistance may reach even more young adults preparing to enter the workforce.
