PADD oversees EDA investment as officials break ground on SkillRise 270 facility

Local officials recently broke ground on the future site of SkillRise 270, a community makerspace to be located at 308 N. 8th St. in Mayfield, with the Purchase Area Development District (PADD) administering a $2,998,103 federal grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration to fund construction of the workforce development and entrepreneurship facility.
SkillRise 270 will offer residents and businesses access to more than 100 tools across five dedicated workshop spaces, including woodworking, metalworking, electronics, 3D printing, and an embroidery and textiles studio. The facility aims to attract and retain talent, strengthen downtown Mayfield, and create new economic opportunities throughout Graves County and the broader Purchase Area region.
As grant administrator, PADD ensures the EDA funds and any local matching dollars are deployed effectively and in compliance with federal requirements — a role the district regularly plays in connecting federal resources to community-level projects across its service area.
