Coalition event draws 45 attendees for education, community resources and activities focused on protecting older adults

The Purchase Area Mental Health & Aging Coalition welcomed 45 attendees to its Elder Abuse Awareness Day Celebration on June 15 at the Graves County Extension Office in Mayfield.

The event brought together community members to raise awareness about elder abuse and emphasize the importance of protecting and supporting older adults.

A representative from Lotus shared information about the organization's services and resources available to assist survivors in recovering from abuse.

Attendees also participated in an ice cream sundae bar, bingo and prize giveaways throughout the afternoon.

Local agencies and long-term care facilities provided goodie bags containing resources and educational materials about services available in the Purchase Area.

The event reinforced this year's message, "Stronger Together. Safer Together.," encouraging community members to work together to promote respect, prevent elder abuse and protect older adults.

The Purchase Area Mental Health and Aging Coalition (PAMHAC) is a regional non-profit group operating out of the Purchase Area Development District (PADD) office, focused on improving wellness, mental health education and support services for older adults aged 60 and older.
