With assistance from the Purchase Area Development District, Hickman County has secured federal funding to construct a new Business and Commerce Center at Enterprise Park in Clinton.

The initiative, led by the Hickman County Industrial Development Authority, aims to boost economic growth by attracting new professional services to the county and supporting local businesses that have outgrown their current facilities or are considering relocating within Hickman County. U.S. Rep. James Comer advocated for the funding through the federal appropriations process.

The $4,050,000 project will be built within the county's industrial park, a creating flexible, modern space designed to attract professional and commercial tenants while giving existing businesses a practical and affordable option for expansion or relocation.

The need is clear: many downtown businesses currently operate in aging, deteriorating buildings that require significant investment to renovate or replace. The new center will offer updated, cost-effective facilities that accommodate a variety of uses — keeping businesses in Hickman County rather than losing them to surrounding areas.

Beyond supporting existing businesses, the center is intended to attract new professional services and small businesses seeking quality space in a strategic location. The Hickman County Industrial Development Authority's goal is to provide affordable options for professional service providers, encouraging them to establish roots in the area and contribute to the local economy.

The Purchase Area Development District wrote the grant, procured the engineers and architects, and will administer the project.

Once completed, the Business and Commerce Center is expected to improve business retention, support recruitment of new enterprises and create broader economic growth opportunities throughout the community.
