NKADD hosts statewide ADD leaders in Covington

The Northern Kentucky Area Development District (NKADD) hosted the Kentucky Association of District Directors (KADD) Spring Retreat for the first time May 14-15 in Covington, bringing together area development district executive directors from across the Commonwealth to discuss issues impacting Kentucky communities.

The two-day retreat opened at Sparkhaus in Covington before moving to the OneNKY Center, where attendees heard from a roster of state and federal leaders. A key session featured Sen. Chris McDaniel, who provided a legislative update and overview of the recently approved state budget, highlighting major outcomes and discussing how General Assembly investments are expected to impact local communities, infrastructure and economic development efforts statewide. 

McDaniel also spoke to the critical role area development districts play in supporting governments, fostering regional collaboration and helping communities prepare for future opportunities. 

Retreat attendees also heard from Jeff Noel, secretary of the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development, along with representatives from the Department for Local Government, USDA and other state partners. Discussions centered on economic development initiatives, community investment programs and resources available to support local projects across the Commonwealth. 

The retreat provided a platform for Kentucky’s ADD leaders to exchange ideas, align priorities and deepen connections with the state and federal partners who help advance community development across Kentucky.
