Funds will assist in the development of a Wildfire Protection Plan aimed at reducing the risk of wildfires

Gov. Andy Beshear recently announced more than $922,000 to help Kentucky communities guard against wildfires.
The funding comes from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service through the Community Wildfire Defense Grant Program. Each community receiving funds will develop a Wildfire Protection Plan aimed at reducing the risk of wildfires.
Among the award recipients is Lewis County, part of the Buffalo Trace Area Development District (BTADD). BTADD Community Development Specialist Sierra O’Cull prepared the grant submission on the county’s behalf.
O’Cull joined Lewis County Emergency Management Director Dennis Brown in Frankfort to accept the award during a recent Team Kentucky update with Gov. Beshear.
