Lake Cumberland ADD wrote and will administer EDA award aimed at spurring local business growth
The Lake Cumberland Area Development District has secured a $1.2 million federal grant for the City of Columbia to fund natural gas infrastructure improvements designed to support local business growth. LCADD staff wrote the application and will administer the grant in conjunction with the city.
The funding comes through the U.S. Economic Development Administration's Fiscal Year 2025 Disaster Supplemental Grant Program, which makes approximately $1.5 billion available nationwide to support economic recovery in areas that received major disaster declarations following hurricanes, wildfires, severe storms, flooding, tornadoes and other natural disasters in 2023 and 2024.
Columbia's award was part of a $10 million round of EDA disaster supplemental funding announced this week covering projects in Georgia and Kentucky.
"The Economic Development Administration is committed to revitalizing America's competitive spirit," said Ben Page, deputy assistant secretary and chief operating officer, performing the duties of the assistant secretary. "These projects will provide businesses with the infrastructure they need for growth and job creation."
