New group aims to strengthen response and recovery across eastern Kentucky
The Kentucky River Area Development District (KRADD) has established a regional disaster committee to improve preparedness, response and recovery efforts across eastern Kentucky. The KRADD Disaster Committee brings together community members, emergency management professionals, local officials, nonprofit organizations and regional partners focused on protecting communities before, during and after disasters.
The committee’s formation comes as eastern Kentucky communities continue to face challenges related to severe weather, flooding, infrastructure damage and emergency response coordination. KRADD aims to use the regional network to improve communication, resource sharing and long-term resilience throughout the Kentucky River region.
The committee will work to identify regional needs, support disaster planning initiatives, promote public awareness and connect local partners with training and recovery resources. KRADD hopes the effort will encourage stronger partnerships across counties and help communities better prepare for future emergencies.
Residents, organizations and individuals with experience or interest in disaster preparedness and relief are encouraged to participate.
