Proposed funding would support environmental assessments across the five-county region to unlock redevelopment opportunities, spur economic growth and revitalize underutilized properties
The FIVCO Area Development District has applied for a Brownfield Assessment Grant (Community-Wide) through the Environmental Protection Agency. If awarded, the grant would support the assessment of properties across FIVCO’s five-county region where real or perceived environmental contamination may be limiting redevelopment.
The assessment process would help communities identify redevelopment opportunities, evaluate environmental conditions and lay the groundwork for future cleanup and reuse. These efforts are intended to support economic development, encourage reinvestment in underutilized sites and strengthen long-term community revitalization throughout the region.
