$5 million congressional earmark funds 22,600 feet of new line plus 131 meter and service replacements to curb multi-day outages

The Big Sandy Area Development District has executed an engineering contract with Nesbitt Engineering for the design, construction administration and resident inspection of a project to replace an aging waterline on Coldwater Road in Inez, Kentucky.
BSADD has received a $5 million congressional earmark to replace the waterline, which has experienced frequent outages because of its age and condition. The project includes installing 22,600 linear feet of waterline and replacing 131 residential meters and service lines. Officials said outages have sometimes left residents without water for two to three days.
The project also aims to reduce water loss across the system. Once completed, the Martin County Water District will own, operate and maintain the new waterline.
