Fourteen BRADD staff members complete Mental Health First Aid training
Fourteen staff members from the Barren River Area Development District (BRADD) completed Mental Health First Aid training through the National Council for Mental Wellbeing as part of an initiative organized by the BRADD Office of Drug Control Policy.
The eight-hour course, led by Kentucky Adult Education, guided participants through conversations involving mental health crises, suicide prevention, self-harm, substance use, recovery and self-care.
Mental Health First Aid is an early intervention public education program that teaches adults how to recognize the signs and symptoms of a potential mental health challenge, respond appropriately, de-escalate potentially dangerous situations, and help connect individuals with support that can lead to recovery and long-term success.
Staff from every department within the BRADD network participated in the training, bringing together a range of perspectives on mental health services.
