Region's job fair season draws hundreds of participants, sets stage for Veterans-focused event

The Bluegrass Area Development District's Department for Workforce Services, through the Kentucky Career Center-Bluegrass/American Job Center, continued to build strong connections between employers and job seekers through a series of successful workforce events in the spring 2026 job fair season.
The Spring Boyle County Regional Job Fair set the tone for the season, hosting 52 employers and drawing 680 students and walk-up job seekers. The event provided an in-person setting for career exploration, networking and immediate hiring opportunities, reflecting the region's ongoing demand for a skilled workforce.
Building on that success, the Bluegrass team collaborated with Northern Kentucky and Lincoln Trail workforce areas to host the 2026 Regional Virtual Job Fair. The multi-area effort engaged 13 employers and 27 job seekers, offering a flexible platform to connect talent with opportunities across a broader geographic area. Participating employers included the University of Louisville Digital Transformation Center, Fayette County Public Schools, the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet, and the Lexington VA Health Care System — representing industries ranging from public service to healthcare and technology.
With that momentum, planning is underway for a third event focused on serving a critical population. The Stand Down Veterans Job and Resource Fair will take place May 14 at the Kentucky Career Center-Bluegrass/American Job Center, 2473 Fortune Drive, Lexington. The event — the second Veteran-focused Stand Down in the Bluegrass region — is designed to connect veterans, especially those experiencing homelessness, with employment opportunities and essential support services. As of publication, 27 employers and community organizations had committed to participating.
Businesses that are hiring, and organizations that serve veterans, are encouraged to visit ckycareers.com/employer-events to register for the May 14 event.
