Construction on a new senior center wing at the Barren County YMCA is nearing completion


Construction progresses on the new senior wing at the Barren County YMCA in Glasgow. The Barren River Area Development District helped secure $750,000 for the project, which will offer wellness, nutrition and activity programming for older adults. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is tentatively scheduled for mid-May.

The Barren River Area Development District helped secure $750,000 to upgrade and expand the Barren County YMCA, adding a new wing designed with older adults in mind.


The addition will focus on senior wellness, nutrition and activity programming, giving the community a dedicated space to support its aging population.


Construction is underway despite minor delays caused by severe weather in January. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is tentatively scheduled for mid-May.
