Lake Cumberland ADD hosts BRIGHT Kentucky Leadership Class

The Lake Cumberland Area Development District (LCADD) hosted the BRIGHT Leadership Kentucky Class of 2024 from Aug. 15-17 as they explored the Lake Cumberland region.
LCADD Executive Director Waylon Wright and Deputy Executive Director Lyndsey Brown, a 2023 BRIGHT Leadership graduate, highlighted LCADD's regional services, which include senior citizens centers, aging services, workforce development, and economic development. The session featured a panel discussion with several experts, including Kentucky League of Cities Community Development Advisor Tad Long, Kentucky Association of Counties Staff Attorney Rich Ornstein, Director of the Reentry and Employment Services Branch Aaron Poynter, and Cumberland Workforce Development Board Director of Workforce Myra Wilson.
The class toured Russell County, visiting sites such as the Wolf Creek Dam and Fish Hatchery and the Russell County Public Library. Russell County Judge/Executive Randy Marcum, Russell Springs Mayor Eddie Thomas, and Jamestown Mayor Regena Hinton participated in a panel discussion. Additionally, the Education Director of Artworks provided a presentation on their community initiatives and offered some class members the opportunity to participate in aerial activities.
The BRIGHT class concluded with supper at Reel Java Restaurant in Jamestown before touring Tarter Gate Headquarters in Dunnville on Friday morning.
